Apollon Kalamenios was born on April 3rd 2003 in Nicosia, Cyprus. Apollon was interested in becoming an all-round musician, which he pursued by being acquainted with piano, violin and composition.

Apollon started his main piano education in Cyprus with Pitsa Spyridaki. He is currently in his 1st year of piano Master’s degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, with specialiasation in contemporary music and lieder accompanying, under professor David Kuyken, Ralph van Raat and Jan Paul Grijpink. Apollon has been performing all around the world, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Spain, the Canaries, Indonesia, Greece and Cyprus. As a pianist, he has received masterclasses by various artists, such as Janusz Olejniczak and Mikhail Voskresensky. He also likes performing as a collaborative pianist and has worked with Nobuko Imai, accompanying her masterclasses.

Concerning composition, having lessons with Meriç Artaç, Maya Verlaak and currently with Richard Ayres in the Conservatorium, Apollon’s compositions appeared in multiple festivals around the world: Cyprus, Greece, Spain, Indonesia, Finland and the U.S. Concerning the Netherlands, he has presented works in various festivals including Gaudeamus, Wonderfeel and O’Festival, venues including Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ and Phil Haarlem and collaborated with ensembles such as Camerata Trajectina. In November 2025, he premiered his own piano concerto “The Forest Ranger” in Phil Haarlem, with the CvA Orchestra and Ed Spanjaard.

Together with soprano Madeline Saputra, he is part of the Vrienden van het Lied and in 2025 they have won the 2nd prize and press jury prize in the International Voice Competition (IVC) with “Keroncong Anemoia”. Lastly, together with the ballet dancer and visual artist Wisse Scheele, they have won the “Audience Award” and the “Responsible AI Prize” during the Goodmesh Concours 2024 with their piece “Echoes of a Lost Bird”, which blended music, dance and visuals to explore themes of loss and memory.
