CHAMBER MUSIC
Ashερόμπασμαν
A composition for carillon and electronics, recorded during the Gaudeamus Festival (2022) from the Dom of Utrecht , performed by Malgosia Fiebig. Based on the cypriot traditional homonym song , the piece travels us to the inner driven by love thoughts of a person who packs chaff.

4 duos for 2 violins
A composition inspired by sea related Greek folk songs:
I. Η τράτα μας η κουρελού (‘Our tattered trawl’)
II. Γιω Μαργιώ (‘Yo Maryo’)
III. Νανούρισμα (‘Lullaby’)
IV. Κάτω στο γυαλό (‘Down by the seashore’)

4 little pieces
These 4 little pieces were composed through old schemes that I did back in 2018, in Nicosia. They have been performed in the past with small alterations but I wasn’t really fulfilled with the results. I retook the cycle when I started my studies in Amsterdam and I finished composing them on November 2021. I dedicated them to this wonderful portuguese violinist Francisca Portugal, since she helped me record the pieces , more than once!

SOLO WORKS
Mandra
Mandra is a piece composed at the start of 2023 and dedicated to my dear
friend Youngjae Kim. The term ”Mandra” refers to the Cypriot traditional
dance, which is the closing of the series of 5 main male dances danced by a
couple facing each other. This particular dance does not have strong dance
moves but it’s based on the steps of the second and third dances, called
”kartchilamas”. A major influence on the composing of this piece, has been the treatment
of piano pieces by the composers Béla Bartók and György Ligeti and the
arrangement of the homonym song by the Cypriot band named ”Monsieur
Doumani”.

In memoriam
After the death of the greek composer Mikis Theodorakis (1925-2021), I composed this solo violin work. It is based on three works of his: “της δικαιοσύνης ήλιε νοητέ” (tis dikeosinis ilie noite’) , “ένα το χελιδόνι” (ena to helidoni) and the famous Zorbas.

When the moon . . .
” That night, the moon was walking away from the sky, she was certainly going for a walk and it wasn’t even midnight…”
